Antoinette Varner was born in 1942 in Texas and grew up in Mississippi. In 1964 she received her degree from the University of Mississippi, married and gave birth to a daughter. In 1972 she moved to San Francisco, and began to explore deeper levels of her being. In her personal search for truth Gangaji walked a long path of spirituality. She took the vows of a Bodhisattva, practiced Zen and Vipassana meditation and helped with the guidance of a Tibetan Buddhist meditation center.

From 1981 to 1987 she practiced as an acupuncturist and worked in a clinic in San Francisco. Despite her success, she felt a deep and persistent desire for fulfillment. So she prayed for a final, true teacher.

In 1990 she met Sri Poonjaji on the banks of the holy Ganges River in India. This encounter was the true fulfillment that she had sought throughout her life. On request of Poonjaji she brings this knowledge now into the West. Gangaji has been speaking to thousands of people in Europe, Australia, Asia and the United States.

With this she continues the fundamental invitation by Ramana and Poojajis to finish the quest for perfection and to embrace the true nature of one’s being, which is already complete, free and at peace with itself permanently.
