Ibn Arabi (d. 1240), describes the entire universe as created by God to become self-conscious. Just as God turned to the world the whole of creation, every mineral, every animal, every jinn, every person and every angel seek God to share his comprehensive consciousness. That is why God can hardly be found in the outward creation but has to be found inside, in the ocean of soul. Every culture, every religion individual channels through which the divine can reveal itself. In Sufism, it is not necessary to maintain religious traditions, but with merge in God. The Sufi experience is ultimately beyond words. (Georges Shanteem)
